presets

This track was done up pretty fast from a session I saved from 2015 (!!!) but there wasn’t a lot going on so it wasn’t so bad. Specifically, there was just a midi drum track and a synth track with a Reaktor preset I don’t have because I also don’t use Reaktor anymore.

I had EZdrummer 2 with the Metal Machine kit but that was hitting a little too hard for my taste. The EZdrummer 3 core library has more options though and the Tight kit was my first choice with the Subtle and Acoustic preset. There’s nothing else on the track except for EZdrummer except Soothe.

The synth tracks both use my Arturia Mini V. The original session used a very basic Reaktor preset so I used a very basic Moog preset for both the lead and bass part. I’m don’t want to pretend I know enough to talk about the actual controls to talk about the presets so you can look at the settings in the screenshots. I don’t fully understand how to really use multiple oscilators but I do have a little loudness contour controls. I have it set so the notes are like really long plucks instead of held notes. That combined with the big reverb softens all the tails in a way I like.

The BigSky settings are pretty much all noon on the Cloud setting. I figure if this sounds good with everything at noon then that’s good enough haha. Beyond that, I’ve got some Soothe on both tracks to clean things up a little. I find that any not-too-abrassive synth settings sound pretty good by the time the go through the BigSky.
