omg an update

I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out how and when I’m gonna update this bundle when I realized: It’s my bundle and I can update it whenever and whyever I want! I generally want this to be a thing that I just add music to progressively since the whole point was that it was supposed to be less work to manage, not more haha. This update isn’t as substantial as I imagined the first update would be but I’ve had a lot of stuff going on ever here so I don’t want to feel too bad about it! I’m working through a lot of different music ideas that I’m willing to commit to in written form here just so I’m somewhat on track.

Firstly, I have an idea for an pack that’s got a synthetic, metal vibe. My vision for it is the soundtrack for a (non-existant) Division 2 expansion called “Eclipse Protocol” and it will feature a lot of low synth and low tuned guitars. I don’t know what all the inspiration for the Division 2 OST actually was but that’s the stuff I found really inspiring so that’s what I’m going with. “Rooftop Encounter” was one of the first real songs that came out of that idea but I, for whatever reason, hit on that a lot these last few months.

Secondly, I have a lot of old-school JRPG energy that is in me for some reason. I have the desire to make some SNES-like music but really I just want to write every village theme that I could possibly imagine. Unlike with the first idea, I don’t have a lot of vision for what the game this pack is made around but I know it’s in there somewhere. It could be some real nice cozy game stuff.

Finally (for now), I wanna make a soundtrack that would work for an early Armored Core. Before Armored Core VI got announced, I dreamed I made the soundtrack for the game and then FromSoft decided to make the game for real. That was the order of operations, somehow lmao. If that’s not manifestation, I don’t know what is. BUT The soundtrack for that has a really modern vibe and I want it to have some weird techno and maybe some drum and bass vibes from the late 90s/early 2000s. I have no idea how that music actually works but I feel like if I will it hard enough, I’ll be able to figure it out and put it together. Hopefully it’s fun for any other sci-fi game but especially some PS1 throwback stuff.

Lastly, I’ve recenly had some hands on time with some game engines and I’m understanding what might be more useable for my files. What formats would actually be useful was a big question mark for me when I started putting music on itch but now I feel like I have a pretty solid idea of what would be actually useful and convenient. I have had some hands on time with Unreal, Unity, GameMaker, and Godot but if there’s some specific problem that specific with other engines, I’m happy to tackle it.

At some point, whenever I feel like I’m more organized, I’ll make sure I have the correct format wav files for unreal (so they’re more drag and drop friendly with earlier versions of unreal). I’ll also include ogg files for everything since I noticed that GameMaker and Godot work better with ogg files. That’s not a big deal for me so I’m happy to facilitate that going forward. This pack of music wont be formatted that way but the next “major” update will have that stuff in there from the get go.

That’s it! I’ll probably have less words for the next update but I figured I should sort some stuff out that’s on my mind. This video will have a preview of all the tracks that are included in this pack so you can listen to it before you download it. Or, hey, if you’re new, here’s the new music!
